The best financial decision of my life was selling a company I spent seven years building. The second best was deciding never to build one that big again.

I built Float Left Interactive — an OTT and connected TV development company — from a laptop in my basement to an acquisition by iMedia Brands in 2022. By every standard metric, it worked. Revenue grew. The team grew. The client list grew. And somewhere along the way, the work I loved became the work I managed.

The exit wasn't a triumph. It was a recognition of enough.

After the sale, I became a ghostwriter for executives. I spent four years on LinkedIn following the creator economy playbook — post daily, build an audience, scale the business. I burned out for two and a half years. Not because the work was hard, but because the system was wrong. I was optimizing for attention on a platform I didn't own, chasing metrics that didn't matter, building on rented land.

Then I stopped. I cut clients. I cut platforms. I cut offers. And for the first time in years, I actually liked the work again.

What I Write About

I write a weekly essay about intentional smallness — the philosophy that the most ambitious thing a business owner can do is stay small on purpose. One thing, done well, for one type of person, at the highest level you can deliver.

This isn't anti-ambition. It's a different definition of ambition. The watchmaker who restores one timepiece at a time. The champagne bar that only seats twelve. The financial planner who limits his clients. These aren't compromises. They're the destination.

Every essay I publish connects to this worldview: reduction over acquisition. Mastery over scale. The craft is the business. The business serves the life.

What I Do

I'm an executive ghostwriter at Thomas Schaeffer & Co. I help executives build visibility through writing they're proud of — not content calendars and engagement hacks. I work with a small number of clients at a time, because that's how good work gets done.

I'm also a pilot, a guitarist of thirty years, and a reader of too many books at once. I live deliberately small, by design.
